Hey guys!
I know, my last entries have been a bit overloaded with information and the length of the entries might have scared you off. That’s why I decided to now show you some videos!
As you could read on my “Quote of the week” page, Frans de Waal once said that if we do not endow animals with human emotions, we risk missing something fundamental, about both animals and us. His research focuses on primate social behavior, including conflict resolution, cooperation, inequity aversion, and food-sharing. In addition his current interests include the origins of morality and justice in human society.
Speaking of justice… Let’s have a look on capuchin monkeys which are well-known for their sense of fairness:
Okay, now you might argue that capuchin monkeys aren’t really close relatives of human beings. So maybe you’re more interested in justice and cooperation among chimpanzees? I mean we shouldn’t forget about the fact that human DNA is 98.4 percent identical to the DNA of the great ape species, right?
So as we have heard, teamwork among chimpanzees requires certain conditions: The helper must be a friend, and the food divided into separate dishes…
Did you know that bonobos resemble human beings even more than chimpanzees do? In fact, this species of ape are the most like humans. So now let’s check out how they react in the cooperation test:
Those videos should prove what I’ve mentioned in my last entry: That many animals are predisposed to take care of one another, come to one another’s aid and that they are cooperative.
Hope you liked it!
Wow… this is so funny.
But on the other hand it’s a little bit scary. I have probably seen too many movies, but idea of monkeys having the control over a whole planet comes closer and closer.
Actually I’m thinking about shaving my beard, otherwise I might be mistaken as one of them…

Haha! We should never underestimate the apes
Buuut our decided advantage is that WE can speak. So at least we have a ray of hope when it comes to a showdown
